RRC Central Railway Recruitment 2026 - Apply Online for 12 Scouts & Guides Quota Posts

Railway Recruitment Cell, Central Railway (RRC/CR) has issued Employment Notice No. RRC/CR/S&G/02/2026, dated 11/07/2026, inviting online applications against the Open Advertisement Scouts and Guides Quota for the year 2026-27. The recruitment covers 2 posts in Level 2 and 10 posts in Level 1 (2 posts each for Mumbai, Bhusawal, Nagpur, Pune and Solapur divisions). The posts are open to candidates of all communities, and there is no reservation applicable for this recruitment. Applications must be submitted online at www.rrccr.com.

Vacancy Details

A total of 12 posts are notified under the Scouts and Guides quota for 2026-27:

The notification clarifies that these vacancy numbers are provisional and may increase, decrease, or even become NIL depending on the actual requirements of the Railway administration.

Eligibility (Nationality)

A candidate for appointment must be:

• A citizen of India, or
• A citizen of Nepal, or
• A subject of Bhutan, or
• A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates belonging to the last four categories must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. Such candidates may sit for the exam, but the appointment offer is given only after the certificate is issued.

Applicants can apply for both Level 1 and Level 2, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for each. Separate online applications and separate examination fees are required for each level, and separate examinations will be conducted.

Educational Qualification

Candidates appointed to the Clerk-cum-Typist category must acquire typing proficiency of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi within two years of appointment; their appointment remains provisional until then.

Scouts and Guides Qualification (For Both Level 1 and Level 2)

• Must hold a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger award, or a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) in any section.
• Must have been an active member of a Scouts organisation for the last 5 years (inclusive of financial year 2021-22 onwards), supported by a Certificate of Activeness as per Annexure A.
• Must have attended two events at National Level or All India Railways level, AND two events at State level.

Age Limit

The lower and upper age limits are reckoned as on 01/01/2027.

Upper Age Relaxation

• SC/ST candidates: 5 years
• OBC candidates: 3 years
• Ex-servicemen: length of Defence service plus 3 years, provided they completed more than 6 months of service after attestation
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years for UR, 13 years for OBC, 15 years for SC/ST
• Widows, divorced women, and women judicially separated from husband (not remarried): up to 35 years (UR), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC/ST)
• Staff of Railway Quasi-Administrative Offices (Canteens, Co-operative Societies, Institutions): relaxation equal to broken-spell service rendered, up to a maximum of 5 years
• Serving Level-1 Railway staff, Casual Labour and Substitutes applying for Level-2 (minimum 3 years of continuous or broken-spell service): up to 40 years (UR), 45 years (SC/ST), 43 years (OBC)
• Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAA) applying for Level-1: 33 years (UR), 36 years (OBC), 38 years (SC/ST), plus apprenticeship training period undergone under the Apprentice Act 1961, subject to a maximum of 3 years
• CCAA applying for Level-2: 30 years (UR), 33 years (OBC), 35 years (SC/ST), plus apprenticeship training period, subject to a maximum of 3 years

Important Dates

The written test date, venue and e-call letter release date are not mentioned in the official notification. RRC states these will be intimated separately to eligible candidates.

Application Fee

• Fee must be paid online through the payment gateway integrated with the application, using debit card, credit card, or internet banking.
• No changes are allowed to the application after fee payment.
• Fee paid by ineligible candidates who still apply will not be refunded.
• Minority candidates (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Zoroastrians/Parsis) claiming fee exemption must submit a self-declaration (Annexure B) and a minority community affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper at the time of document verification.
• EBC means candidates with a family income of less than Rs. 50,000/- per annum, supported by an income certificate (Annexure C) from an authorised issuing authority.

Selection Process

Selection is based on a Written Test (CBT/TAB mode) followed by marks awarded on certificates during document verification. There is no interview. Candidates who score a minimum of 40% marks in the Written Test, to the extent of 2.5 times the number of vacancies, will be called for the next stage.

Marks Distribution (Total: 100 Marks)

(A) Written Test - 60 Marks

• 40 Objective Questions carrying 40 marks (CBT/TAB mode)
• 1 Essay Type Question carrying 20 marks, based on the Scouts and Guides Organisation, its activities, and General Knowledge
• Negative marking applies to objective questions: 1/3rd of the marks allotted is deducted for every wrong answer
• Test duration: 60 minutes
• Question paper is set in English and Hindi

(B) Marks on Certificates - 40 Marks

All certificates, including those used for minimum eligibility and for awarding marks, must be uploaded on the portal. Certificates not uploaded at the time of application will not be entertained during document verification.

The Written Test syllabus for both Level 1 and Level 2 covers: History of Scouting/Guiding; Law and Promise; Organization at District and State level; Training Centres at District and State level; knowledge of relevant books; Scouting for Boys/Guiding for Girls in India; motto, left-hand shake, salute, prayer, flag song, and National Anthem; National and Scouting flags; social services; hiking; proficiency badges; stages in Scouting/Guiding; Thinking Day; progressive training of Scouts/Guides/Rovers/Rangers; pioneering; handicrafts; Indian Railway Jamborette; National Jamboree; Jamboree on the Air; National-level organisation and training centres; WAGGGS/WOSM; Uprashtrapati Award Competition; Prime Minister Shield Competition; Community Development Programmes; aims and methods of Scouting; and General Knowledge.

Required Documents

Candidates must upload the following legible documents online:

• Scanned copy of President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) certificate, along with all supporting certificates as specified in the notification
• Scanned copy of minimum educational qualification mark sheets/certificates
• Scanned copy of the Scouts & Guides qualification certificate
• Proof of date of birth (10th standard or equivalent certificate/mark sheet indicating date of birth, or school leaving certificate)
• Caste certificate for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, wherever applicable
• Recent passport-size photograph in uniform, without cap, wig or sunglasses

How to Apply for RRC Central Railway Recruitment 2026

1. Visit the official RRC Central Railway website: www.rrccr.com
2. Log in and fill the online application with personal details and bio-data carefully.
3. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar Card number. Candidates without an Aadhaar Card but who have enrolled can use the 28-digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID. This provision applies to candidates from all states/UTs except Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya and Assam, who may instead use a Voter ID, valid passport, driving licence, or other valid Government identity card.
4. Upload the required photograph, signature, and supporting certificates as per specifications.
5. Verify all entered details carefully, as no changes are allowed after fee payment.
6. Pay the applicable examination fee online through the payment gateway (debit card, credit card, or internet banking).
7. Save/print the e-receipt generated after successful payment.
8. Note down the Registration ID issued upon successful submission for future reference.
9. Take a printout of the submitted application, which must be produced at the time of Document Verification.

Only one application per category (Level 1 and Level 2) can be submitted. Multiple applications with different personal details, photographs, or documents in the same category will be summarily rejected. Candidates need not send printouts or certificates to RRC by post.

Important Instructions

• Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility conditions before applying; false or incorrect information leads to cancellation of candidature at any stage.
• Original documents for date of birth, educational qualification, and Scouts and Guides qualification must be produced at Document Verification; failure to do so means the candidate will not be allowed to appear.
• Certificates in languages other than English or Hindi must be accompanied by an attested translation.
• No TA/DA or accommodation will be provided for the Written Test or Document Verification; candidates may need to stay 2-3 days for Document Verification at their own arrangement.
• Selected candidates may be posted anywhere on Central Railway.
• Mobile phones, pagers, laptops, calculators, Bluetooth devices, and other communication devices are banned inside the examination premises.
• Selected male candidates who are finally appointed are liable for active service in the Railway Engineers' Unit of Territorial Army.
• Serving Defence Personnel likely to be released within one year of the closing date (12/08/2026) can also apply.
• Candidates already employed in PSU/Government organisations must produce a "No Objection Certificate" from their employer at Document Verification.
• Candidates debarred for life, or for a period not yet completed, from any RRB/RRC examination must not apply.
• Appointment is subject to passing the requisite Medical Fitness Test and verification of educational, community, and character/antecedent records.
• In the event of any discrepancy between the Hindi and English versions of the notification, the English version prevails.
• Any legal matter arising from this notice falls under the jurisdiction of the Central Administrative Tribunal, Mumbai.
