Bihar STET 2026 Eligibility

Educational & Professional Qualification

Paper Minimum Requirement (general subjects)
Paper-I (Secondary) Graduation with at least 50% marks in the relevant subject/subject group from a recognized university, along with a B.Ed. (or equivalent) from an NCTE-recognized institution. Relaxed norms (45% + B.Ed.) apply where prescribed under NCTE Regulations 2002/2007.
Paper-II (Higher Secondary) Post-graduation with at least 50% marks in the relevant subject from a recognized university, along with a B.Ed. (or equivalent) from an NCTE-recognized institution. Relaxed norms (45% + B.Ed., or 55% + integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.) apply as prescribed.
Separate detailed qualification norms (Parishisht-1 for Paper-I and Parishisht-2 for Paper-II) apply for Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts, Dance, and Special School Teacher categories, including sports-quota and NCC-linked pathways. Candidates should verify the exact clause applicable to their subject in the official notification.

Citizenship

The candidate must be a citizen of India.

Important: Any dispute regarding recognition of a qualification/institution, or equivalence of a degree, will be decided by the Department in consultation with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), and that decision will be final.

Fee is payable online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. No other mode of fee payment is accepted.

Note: Reservation benefits in age, qualifying marks, and fee are applicable only to candidates who are original/permanent residents of Bihar. Candidates domiciled outside Bihar will be treated as General category (male/female) and must pay the fee applicable to the General category.

  • Exam duration: 2 hours 30 minutes per paper.
  • Question type: Objective/Multiple-choice, delivered via Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • No negative marking for wrong answers.
  • Since the exam is held across multiple shifts/sittings, a Normalization method is applied to the raw score to ensure candidates are not disadvantaged or advantaged by shift-wise difficulty variation; the final result is based on the Normalized Score, not the Raw Score.

How to Apply for Bihar STET 2026

  1. Visit the official portal stetregistration.cbrt.co.in.
  2. Complete first-time Registration to generate a User ID and Password (sent via SMS/e-mail).
  3. Log in and fill the application form, entering personal, educational, and category details accurately.
  4. Upload a recent color photograph (20 KB–200 KB, size 3.5cm × 4.5cm) and scanned signature (10 KB–50 KB).
  5. Click "Preview" to verify all entered details before submission; use "Save" to correct any errors.
  6. Pay the requisite examination fee online via Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking / UPI, using the Payment Gateway.
  7. Click "Submit" to finalize the application. No changes are permitted after final submission.
  8. Download and print a copy of the confirmed application for future reference.
Important: Applications must be filled by the candidate personally. Incomplete applications, or more than one application from the same candidate, will be rejected/cancelled. Applications must be filled only in English; use of CAPITAL LETTERS in the declaration/signature section is not permitted. No mode other than online will be accepted.

Important Conditions

  • Candidates should download the application draft first, fill it carefully with a pen, then transcribe the details online, to avoid entry errors.
  • The admit card will be generated strictly based on the details filled in the online application; no correction request will be entertained once the admit card is issued.
  • Candidates must keep their User ID and Password confidential and not share them with anyone, including cyber café operators.
  • If the qualification/subject group mentioned in the application does not match the notified eligibility, the candidature and result may be cancelled at any stage.
  • Candidates applying for the EWS category for STET 2026 must correctly mark "General" as their category in the online application (a common error was noted where EBC candidates mistakenly selected EWS).
  • Result and admit card will be prepared based on the reservation category marked by the candidate in the application; candidates should exercise care while marking the category.
  • Applications with the prescribed fee received after the last date will not be accepted, and such incomplete applications will be rejected.
  • Passing the STET examination does not itself confer any right to appointment.
  • The Samiti reserves the right to modify or cancel the recruitment/examination process at any stage.
